Michael Aguilar, MD

Dr. Aguilar was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Following graduation from high school he attended UCLA where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psycho-Biology. Dr. Aguilar attended medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and earned his doctorate of medicine degree in 1992. After medical school, Dr. Aguilar continued his medical education with a General Surgery internship and residency at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA.
During his college and post graduate years he received numerous academic and scholarship honors including being elected to the prestigious medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA). Following his residency he has been in private practice since July 2002. He performs surgery at Sutter Medical Center and Mercy General Hospital, both moderately large multi-specialty hospitals near mid-town Sacramento. At both hospitals he has served on influential hospital committees including Chief of Surgery at Sutter Medical Center and is currently serving as the Chief of General Surgery at Mercy General Hospital. Alongside his responsibilities of private practice and serving as Chief of Surgery, Dr. Aguilar partners with California Northstate University College of Medicine as part of their clinical faculty to preceptor 3rd year medical students completing their surgical clerkship.
Dr. Aguilar performs a wide variety of operations but he has particular interest in laparoscopic surgery, hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery and non-cosmetic breast cancer surgery.
